The Colosseum and the great archaeological parks of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill are places filled with attractions, history, and beauty, displayed in a giant puzzle. The Colosseum holds incredible secrets about the organization and the political significance of the games; in the Roman Forum and on the Palatine Hill house dozens of temples, palaces and imposing buildings that were the stage for momentous changes, cutting time in two, creating a before and after. It is only possible to explore and enjoy a small part of these three areas in a tour of 3.5 hours, and even less so in the typical 3-hour tour. This is why, having the visitor’s experience and a sense of history at heart, we propose the alternative of our in-depth tour, a new way of touring, which we have pioneered successfully for more than 13 years. (Main sites covered: Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Temple of Julius Caesar, Temple of The Vestal Virgins, Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, Arch of Titus, Stadium, Triclinium, Huts of Romulus).

Explore the two-tiered underground of the Colosseum, reliving the hellishness of the time, when the roar of wild beasts was combined with the anguished sweat of gladiators ready to step into the arena. Discover the hoists used for gladiators and animals, the ingenious mechanisms used to maneuver the sets, demonstrating the ingenious stage machinery created for imperial propaganda to make for compelling fights. After the visit to the second level, our night Colosseum tour continues along Via dei Fori Imperiali where you can appreciate the splendour of the adjacent Forum of Augustus and Trajan's Market. Then admire the main sites of the valley of the Roman Forum, with the newly installed night lighting from a viewing point just behind Piazza del Campidoglio (on the Capitoline Hill), concluding your visit at its center, where you will be spellbound by the magnificent architecture of Michelangelo.

Our Underground Rome tour is designed to discover extremely beautiful sites that are unfortunately overlooked by many of our visitors to Rome. It is also a way to rediscover certain periods of the history of the city that determined the change from the time of Imperial Rome to Christian Rome. Capitoline Museums (* seasonal tour ask at desk)
Cost: € 30 per person (5-17 years / students 18-24: € 24 - ID required)
Length: ~ 2 hours
A perfect complement to our tour of the Roman Forum and the Coliseum, this tour will help give face, form and expression to the gods and to the key personalities who inhabited the squares, temples and houses of the ancient city. You can see the splendid gilded bronze statue of Hercules, the formidable statue of Mars in full military dress, the pensive Group of Polyphemus, the Drunken Faun carved from ancient red marble, the equally splendid Centaur, and dozens of other extraordinary sculptures. Above all, you can admire the perfection of the original bronze equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, with its minute attention to detail apparent in the emperor's beard, veins and rather incredible sandals. The copy of this statue stands in Piazza Campidoglio. You'll come across the very famous remains of the colossal statue of the Emperor Constantine, his head, hand and foot all etched with their long history. The Dying Gaul will touch you with his pained expression and show of courage. The mosaics of the Doves and the Theatrical Masks are immortal symbols that all of us have seen in our school books. As no doubt is the case with the legendary statue of the She-wolf, the product of Etruscan workshops from the fifth century BC, which has since become a symbol of the city. The museum also houses the busts of Cicero, Julius Caesar, Nero, Homer, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
