*What is the difference between your Vatican 3.5 hour Essential Experience and your 5 hour tour? *
Our 3.5 hour Essential Experience tour was created for clients that simply don't have time for our 5 hour tour due to travel constraints and for families with young children. Our 3.5 hour tour does not include the Pinacoteca (Picture Gallery housing the only Da Vinci and Caravaggio in the Museums as well as Raphael's famous Transfiguration.) We also do not take a lunch break on this shorter tour.

Ancient City in depth (Coliseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill)
Cost: € 60 per person         (5-17 years / students 18-24: € 45 - ID required)
Length: ~ 5 hours Departure: Daily @930      Meet: Pickup from USO Office at 8:45
The history of gladiators, senators and emperors awaits you in these places. You can skip over this history or you can enjoy an authentic and enthusiastic exploration of it. We care about your journey of discovery. With us, you won't find yourselves in one of the countless old-fashioned groups of tourists (20-25 people, but self-described "small groups") that drift around the various levels of the Colosseum and follow only the main street of the archaeological parks of the Forum and Palatine in 3-hour tours, claiming to cover these areas. (30-minute break not included in the touring time)
(Main sites covered: Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Temple of Julius Caesar, Senate, Temple and House of The Vestal Virgins, Temple of Castor and Pollux, Temple of Saturn, Basilica Emilia, Basilica of Maxentius, Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, Arch of Titus, Arch of Septimius Severus, Domus Flavia, Domus Augustana, Stadium, Triclinium, Huts of Romulus, House of Augustus, Fresco of Apollo the Citharist, Statue of the Magna Mater, Farnese Gardens).

Ancient City Essential (Coliseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill)
Cost: € 52 per person         (5-17 years / students 18-24: € 39 - ID required)
Length: ~ 3.5 hours Departure: Daily @930 or 1500  Meet: Pickup from USO Office at 8:45 or 14:30
The Colosseum and the great archaeological parks of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill are places filled with attractions, history, and beauty, displayed in a giant puzzle. The Colosseum holds incredible secrets about the organization and the political significance of the games; in the Roman Forum and on the Palatine Hill house dozens of temples, palaces and imposing buildings that were the stage for momentous changes, cutting time in two, creating a before and after. It is only possible to explore and enjoy a small part of these three areas in a tour of 3.5 hours, and even less so in the typical 3-hour tour. This is why, having the visitor’s experience and a sense of history at heart, we propose the alternative of our in-depth tour, a new way of touring, which we have pioneered successfully for more than 13 years. (Main sites covered: Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, Temple of Julius Caesar, Temple of The Vestal Virgins, Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, Arch of Titus, Stadium, Triclinium, Huts of Romulus).

All of these are even lovelier we will explore the quaint, cobble-stone streets of the historic center, along which lie some of the world's most beautiful fountains, architecturally fascinating buildings, and picturesque piazzas, as the setting sun casts an amber light on them, slowly giving way to the twinkling lights of the city. There is another Rome underneath the known and loved Rome. There is another silent and humble city under the grandiose Renaissance and Baroque architecture. There are centuries of history buried in the subterranean layers beneath the five churches that we invite you to visit with us in a fascinating voyage into the bowels of the earth. Our Underground Rome tour is designed to discover extremely beautiful sites that are unfortunately overlooked by many of our visitors to Rome. It is also a way to rediscover certain periods of the history of the city that determined the change from the time of Imperial Rome to Christian Rome.

Capitoline Museums (* seasonal tour ask at desk)
Cost: € 30 per person (5-17 years / students 18-24: € 27 - ID required)
Length: ~ 2 hours
A perfect complement to our tour of the Roman Forum and the Coliseum, this tour will help give face, form and expression to the gods and to the key personalities who inhabited the squares, temples and houses of the ancient city. You can see the splendid gilded bronze statue of Hercules, the formidable statue of Mars in full military dress, the pensive Group of Polyphemus, the Drunken Faun carved from ancient red marble, the equally splendid Centaur, and dozens of other extraordinary sculptures. Above all, you can admire the perfection of the original bronze equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, with its minute attention to detail apparent in the emperor's beard, veins and rather incredible sandals. The copy of this statue stands in Piazza Campidoglio. You'll come across the very famous remains of the colossal statue of the Emperor Constantine, his head, hand and foot all etched with their long history. The Dying Gaul will touch you with his pained expression and show of courage. The mosaics of the Doves and the Theatrical Masks are immortal symbols that all of us have seen in our school books. As no doubt is the case with the legendary statue of the She-wolf, the product of Etruscan workshops from the fifth century BC, which has since become a symbol of the city. The museum also houses the busts of Cicero, Julius Caesar, Nero, Homer, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
